In theory and practice, Walter Frisch has dealt with the reunited descendants of Auerochsen. His book "Der Auerochs" provides information about the once largest extinct mammal of Europe, the ancestor of our present household. In his book, the author has dealt extensively with this fascinating primordial animal and its reared offspring. Scarcely an extinct animal has left such a lively awareness and interest in broad population strata as the Auerochs or Ur, as it is also called. As a symbol of "primordial" strength and wildness, the paternal father of all the domestic cattle living today has always found great interest in scientific circles. Since, however, there is scarcely any relevant, comprehensive literature of the Auerochsen, his ancestors, and his offspring for the interested layman, there are usually only vague ideas about the Ur, its dynamism, its appearance, and its strength. However, there are extensive scientific investigations and contributions, which since the Middle Ages deal with the Ur, its appearance, its way of life and its occurrence. The present book is intended to give the interested layman an overview of the natural history of the Auerochsen, his descendants and the event of the "Auerochsen re-breeding".
